Thanks to everyone who made it to the meeting!

Thanks everyone who made it out to the second meeting of the Redding yo-yo club! The turnout was bigger than I expected. There is definitely some great local talent.

Anyone have a bit of time tomorrow?

Appreciate the input guys. Let's just keep in touch and eventually we will come up with a plan we can all agree on. I have sat-mon off until daylight savings time in the fall then back to 5 8's. Does anyone have a bit of time tomorrow? (Sunday 6/1) I will be on a training ride near and on the river trail and could meet at the bridge sometime after 12:00 pm. Would have to be fairly brief but at least it's a start.

Still trying to get the yo-yo club spinning in Redding

Ok Redding yoyoers as usual there is a flurry of interest in getting a club going then a week later the interest falls off the map. We'll... I'm done with my mountain bike race I was training for and have a bit more free time to work on the club. Would you rather have a quick meeting down at the sundial just to talk about how you see the club evolving and throw a bit. Or....shal I reserve a meeting room at a pizza joint where we can sit down and enjoy an age appropriate beverage of choice, have some pie and see what evolves from there? Your input would be appreciated. Please respond here or at reddingyoyoclub.blogspot.com. I will post this same thread there. Cheers!

Received a one drop rally today

Not sure what it is about well made precision plastic yoyos I like but... I did a little research and decided to get a one drop rally. It just arrived today. I will give it a test drive ...I mean throw....for the next couple days and then post a review on the redding yoyo club blog. We'll after a couple weeks with the Rally as my daily carry. It is a great smooth throw for the price. I threw it along with my Northstar , which I really liked before. But the rally is just built with more precision and what I believe are just better materials and a better overall design. It feels almost like it is made from ceramic. The weight is nice, not too heavy, not too light. I think the main thing I enjoy is the play is up there with most of my 100$ plus metal yoyos but if I accidentally give it a floor bounce there is no issue.  Overall very impressive for a sub 50$ yo.

Input also via yoyoexpert.com

I have a post up in the "contests, clubs and events" forum @ yoyoexpert  if it is easier to post there for everyone. Any input is appreciated.

Meeting at sundial

I was thinking once we get a few members we could plan to meet and yo at the sundial bridge once a month or so. Get some exposure to the non yoyoing community. And maybe find some yoyoers that have been hiding in the shadows and get them to join the club.

First road trip

We definitely need to put together a road trip to bird in hand and the national yoyo museum in Chico as one of the first club activities. I actually have a ProYo ace customized with my user name from a very old yoyo site on display in the museum.  The owner was interested in it as it is fairly rare. I think only 100 were made. So I traded him for my #109 pyro lite. I wonder if I could trade or buy it back?

Need feedback for first meeting

Well well after all these years it looks as though there is enough interest in the club to start talking about the first meeting. I work Tuesday-Friday and have most weekends booked up. So...maybe a weekday evening 7-8 pm. Let me know which day you think and if that time works. Also which pizza place does everyone (everyone lol. I think we will have about 6 members to start) most of them have meeting rooms we can try to book. If someone wants to come up with a logo go for it. That's all I have for now, please let me know your thoughts and let's make this happen.

Collection needs an update

I think I'm due for a trip to Chico to pick up something new

Fyi. Looks as though all my pics from my old reviews are gone. It HAS been six years since I did them. I'll work on replacing them when I get some time. I will also add a couple new reviews. I have actually bought a couple new yo-yo's since 2008 :-)

Maybe it will happen?!

I started this blog MANY years ago hoping to start up a yo-yo club in Redding. Unfortunately I received little to no interest. But..... Recently I have had contact from a few interested souls. Seems they vary in age from early teen to myself (a young 47!) although now with a 3 yr. old boy (future yo-yo er) I have had little time to practice or learn anything new. I do have a personal yo-yo on display at the yo-yo museum in Chico.  I may not be an Augy Fash but in Redding terms I have quite advanced skills, along with a dwindling but still sweet yo-yo collection. So....I propose we schedule the first ever meeting of the redding yo-yo club. I can reserve a meeting room at a local pizza joint on a night and time designated by our fledgling members. We can discuss how to procure additional members, a logo for the club, possibility of an annual Redding yo-yo comp!? I'm thinking the "sundial bridge yo-yo contest and art festival" hmm hmm could happen with a little work. Multiple stages along the bridge with yo-yo ers doing 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, kendama etc etc with different bands of varying genre, food vendors the WORKS! I think it has potential. Contact me via this blog with any input and a preferred place to hold the first meeting. As with the yo-yo club in Chico, if you expose new people (kids of all ages) to the art of yo-yoing interest and participation will grow.
